Winterizing your boat’s propulsion, plumbing and other systems before the first freeze each year can be an important step in avoiding costly problems and preparing for a carefree launch next season.

Shrink Wrap Services
Starting at $28.00 per foot
- Fees may be higher for lengths over 28′ LOA and beam over 9′ along with covering towers and top-mounted accessories.
- Additional options include vents, doors and dehumidifier buckets.
Minimum Winterization - All Engine Makes & Models
Starting at $350 per engine
- Add fuel stabilizer to fuel tank based on fuel level.
- Start and run engine in recirculating tank with antifreeze solution until normal operating temperature is reached.
- Internally fog engine with fogging oil (N/A for catalyst engines).
- Note any items needing repair.
Mercruiser & Volvo Sterndrive - Standard Winterization
Starting at $670 per engine
NOTE: Winterization rates apply to most common stern drive applications. Additional fees may apply for big-block engines, inboard engines & transmissions, and engines with additional or non-OEM filters or other non-standard components.
- Add fuel stabilizer to fuel tank based on fuel level.
- Start and run engine in recirculating tank until normal operating temperature is reached.
- Change engine oil & filter.
- Internally fog engine with fogging oil (N/A for catalyst engines).
- Check power trim, trim tab & power steering oil levels & add fluids as needed.
- Replace fuel/water separating filter.
- Lubricate cables & steering components.
- Visual inspection of all nuts, bolts, fuel fittings & hoses.
- Inspect engine belts.
- Remove & clean flame arrestor.
- Coat entire engine & electrical components with rust preventative.
- Lubricate grease fittings on engine & outdrive.
- Drain & refill gear oil.
- Grease propeller shaft.
- Disconnect battery/batteries or switch off battery switch.
- Drain bilge of any water.
- Note any items needing repair.
4-Stroke Outboard - Standard Winterization
Starting at $615 per engine, $650 per engine for 175hp and above
NOTE: Winterization rates apply to most common outboard applications. Additional fees may apply for engines above 300 HP or engines with additional or non-OEM filters or other non-standard components.
- Add fuel stabilizer to fuel tank based on fuel level.
- Start and run engine in recirculating tank until normal operating temperature is reached.
- Change engine oil and filter.
- Internally fog engine with fogging oil.
- Replace fuel/water separating filter.
- Lubricate cables & steering components.
- Visual inspection of all nuts, bolts, fuel fittings & hoses.
- Coat entire engine & electrical components with rust preventative.
- Lubricate grease fittings.
- Drain & refill gear oil.
- Grease propeller shaft.
- Disconnect battery/batteries or switch off battery switch.
- Drain bilge of any water.
- Note any items needing repair.
2-Stroke Outboard - Standard Winterization

NOTE: Winterization rates apply to most common outboard applications. Additional fees may apply for engines above 300 HP or engines with additional or non-OEM filters or other non-standard components.
- Add fuel stabilizer to fuel tank based on fuel level.
- Start and run engine in recirculating tank until normal operating temperature is reached.
- Internally fog engine with fogging oil.
- Check power trim, trim tab & hydraulic steering levels and add fluid as needed.
- Replace fuel/water separating filter.
- Lubricate all grease fittings, cables and steering components.
- Coat entire engine & electrical components with rust preventative.
- Drain and refill gear oil.
- Grease propeller shaft.
- Disconnect battery/batteries or switch off battery switch.
- Drain bilge of any water.
- Note any items needing repair.
Yamaha/SeaDoo Jet Boat - Standard Winterization
Starting at $615 per engine
- Add fuel stabilizer to fuel tank based on fuel level.
- Start and run engine in recirculating tank until normal operating temperature is reached.
- Internally fog engine with fogging oil.
- Change engine oil and filter.
- Lubricate all grease fittings, cables & steering components.
- Coat entire engine & electrical components with rust preventative.
- Disconnect battery/batteries or switch off battery switch.
- Drain bilge of any water.
- Note any items needing repair.
Additional Winterization Packages
Outdrive Inspection Per Outdrive plus Parts – Mercruiser & Volvo
Service Includes
- Remove outdrive from boat.
- Inspect bellows, shift shaft & engine alignment.
- Grease lubrication points.
- Reinstall outdrive with new mounting gaskets & seals.
- Provide estimate for any repairs needed.
Winterize Onboard Systems
Onboard systems include:
Freshwater, salt/raw water, washdowns and livewells, waste/holding tank, air conditioner, shower sump/bilge, generator, ice maker, etc.
Please note: for all services above, additional charges may apply for:
- No keys to start engine.
- No start, dead batteries.
- Accessibility of parts/components.
- Plugged strainers.
- Corroded/rusted parts.
If winterization is done after the first freeze, additional labor may be required to thaw and inspect frozen parts/components – time and materials will be billed.
Services provided with your winterization are not a substitute for your engine manufacturer’s recommended scheduled maintenance – additional services may be required.
If your work request is not received before (and work order dated by) first freeze of the season, Legasea Marine cannot be held liable for damage caused by freezing temperatures.
